DOH Community Advisory Council

Community Advisory Council is now open! Community Advisory Council nominations and applications for community representatives will be accepted through noon on Monday, November 22. Join us for a virtual gathering on Thursday, November 4th , from 4:00 – 6:00 pm to learn more about Health Equity Zones, the Community Advisory Council, and the application process (Zoom info below). 

The Community Advisory Council – comprised of majority community representatives from areas and groups most impacted by health inequities, and stakeholders from public health agencies and community health organizations – will work together to convene and establish the foundation of the new Health Equity Zones initiative. The initiative, made possible through Senate Bill 5052, will support communities in addressing the health disparities they want to prioritize. Using data and support from state epidemiologists, communities that identify as Health Equity Zones will receive ongoing technical assistance to implement projects to improve health in their communities.

The Community Advisory Council will serve a key role, ensuring that efforts are community-centered and health equity-driven, with focused attention given to communities experiencing the greatest health inequities. Council members will also help identify and shape stories that provide insight on the health inequities facing communities in Washington, and the public health data that document how these groups are disproportionately impacted.
