On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion that has been in place since 1973. This decision allows individual states to determine laws related to abortion. Washington has laws in place to protect personal reproductive decisions and abortion will remain legal in the state. Washington has a long history of supporting a full spectrum of reproductive rights and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) is committed to ensuring broad access to sexual and reproductive health services.
