Three years after COVID-19 was declared a national emergency, the Biden Administration announced its plans to end the declaration on May 11, 2023.
Under the declaration, the federal government was able to cover the full cost of COVID-19 tests, treatments and vaccines. Once the declaration ends, coverage by the government will more closely mirror the coverage for other medical conditions. More information on how the end of the declaration may affect coverage will be available in the coming weeks, and we will continue to post updates.
The CDC continues to advise every eligible person to get vaccinated, stay up to date on the latest available boosters and take necessary precautions when sick to avoid spreading illness to others.
