On October 13, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) shared a news release announcing the authorization of bivalent boosters for children aged 5-11. As we highlighted in last week’s newsletter, people aged 12 and older are already eligible to receive the bivalent booster following the completion of their primary vaccine series. Guidance and recommendations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup informed the authorization of bivalent boosters for children aged 5-11.
