On August 12, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) shared a news release highlighting the launch of their transformation plan for Washington state. Released in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, this plan reenergizes DOH’s commitment and vision for health equity in Washington state. According to the news release, “the plan recognizes the importance of collaborating with communities, community-based organizations, local public health, governmental partners, health care providers/systems, private sector, Tribal Nations and many more, to move us forward in improving health for all Washingtonians.”
Built on the essential values of equity, innovation and engagement, the five-priority plan aims to achieve equity and optimal health for all. The priority areas of the transformation plan include:
- Health and wellness
- Health systems and workforce transformation
- Environmental health
- Emergency response and resilience
- Global and one health
