DOH is Spotlighting Partner Efforts During April: National Minority Health Month

March 30, 2022

April is National Minority Health Month, and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) would like to spotlight community partners throughout the month! The national theme for Minority Health Month is Give Your Community a Boost, and it is centered around spreading the importance of the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, specifically in communities of color.

DOH is hoping to gather information on any upcoming COVID-19 vaccine or booster events or to share videos/material focused on vaccine confidence, building trust, and/or addressing misinformation. Partners can feel free to include other work such as healthy eating, disability or environmental justice, healthy neighborhoods or any other work happening to improve the health of communities of color.

A different community will be spotlighted each week:

  • Week 1 – Black/African American (Black Diaspora) Community: Please submit by March 31
  • Week 2 – Tribal/ Native American Community: Please submit by April 7
  • Week 3 – Latinx Community: Please submit by April 14
  • Week 4 – Asian American/Pacific Islander Community: Please submit by April 21

Contributions from partners can be submitted to Michealea.Lemons@doh.wa.gov. When submitting information, please include the following details:

  • Partner Name
  • Photos or Videos (if desired)
    • When photos or videos are shared, please add, or request a caption
  • Social Media Handles
    • Website
    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • Others

On behalf of DOH, thank you for your time and the work you do for the community. DOH looks forward to lifting up your work!
