The omicron variant has become a frequent news topic since November 26, 2021, when the World Health Organization (WHO) classified it as a Variant of Concern (VOC). On December 4, the first three omicron variant cases were reported in Washington state. These three cases were detected in Thurston, Pierce and King Counties, and those affected range in age from 20 to 39.
