The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) echoed the CDC recommendations surrounding third doses of the Pfizer BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine.
There are three priority groups who are currently recommended to receive a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine 6 months after the primary series of vaccinations are administered. People 65 years of age or older, adults 18 years or older who are living in long-term care facilities, and people age 50-64 with underlying health conditions are encouraged to get a third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
Likewise, two additional groups have access to a third dose if they choose to request it. Individuals age 18-49 who have certain underlying health conditions that put them at high risk for severe COVID-19 symptoms may pursue a third dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Additionally, people aged 18-64 who are at higher risk of COVID-19 exposure and transmission related to their occupational or institutional setting are also permitted to pursue a third Pfizer vaccine dose.
