August 16, 2023

The National Weather Service predicts “dangerously hot conditions” across much of Washington this week with temperatures forecasted to reach 100 degrees or more in some areas.

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) recommends taking preventative measures to avoid heat-related illnesses and deaths. Some of their key recommendations include:

  • Staying indoors and in air-conditioned environments
  • Checking on your friends, family and neighbors
  • Staying hydrated

Regional cooling centers will be set up across the state and are free to the public. For more information about cooling centers near you, call 211 or visit Washington’s statewide online resource.
