New Community Grants Available from the National Council on Aging

January 4, 2023

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) has received a $50 million federal grant to implement a campaign dedicated to older adults and people with disabilities getting the latest COVID-19 and flu vaccines.

With the grant, NCOA will provide funding and technical assistance to community-based organizations for their work in conducting tailored community outreach, hosting vaccine clinics and offering services to aid older adults in getting vaccinated.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 90% of COVID-19 deaths are among people 65 and over, and 70-85% of seasonal flu deaths occur in older adults.

NCOA will be awarding approximately 250 grants for projects ranging from 6-15 months in duration with the goal of increasing the number of older adults and people with disabilities receiving COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.

Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until March 1, 2023, or until all funds are granted. Organizations that serve older adults such as senior centers, community centers or other nonprofits are encouraged to apply.

Interested organizations must submit a non-binding notice of intent in addition to their application, which can be done via NCOA’s application portal.
